How is the sewage sludge treated and disposed?
Here is the flow chart.

Dewatered sludge from each sewage sludge treatment plants are transported by trucks and stored in the sludge pit. On the other hand, pumped raw sludge is sent through a pipe to be stored in a tank. The tank is then treated with a gravitational sludge thickener or centrifugal one till the water content reaches a certain amount. After that it is sent to the sludge pit.
Sludge is supplied to each sludge feeder by automated crane, and then dried until water content reaches appropriate rate. After the sludge molding process, small portion of coke and basicity adjusting agents are thrown into the melting furnace.
These sludge cakes are dried and raise temperature by exhaust gas. Flammable materials are decomposed and burned. Meanwhile inflammable materials are drained from slag off hole and stored at the yard as air cooled slag or water quenched slag.
Steam collected from the boilers is used for power generators as well as heat sources for the dryer.
The plant drainage, which is caused in the process of treatment at sludge treatment plant or melting furnace facility, is purified at water purification plant and then released back to the ocean.
Supervision and control is automated by the central computer operation.
